چکیده

Background Hypopharyngeal cancer is one of the most frequent head and neck cancers associated with a poor prognosis because recurrence metastases. Therefore, there need to improve prognosis, which requires identification prognostic factors elucidation mechanisms involved in tumor progression. Accumulated evidence has demonstrated that cluster differentiation 147 (CD147) strongly expressed malignant tumors, including squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), contributes Objectives To investigate CD147-induced signaling pathways HNSCC cells evaluate progression mediated by CD147, association between CD147 expression tumors survival rate hypopharyngeal patients. Material methods determine downstream HNSCC, levels phosphorylated AKT1, MEK1, p38 MAPK, STAT3, NF-?B were evaluated using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) FaDu, line, exposed cyclophilin A, ligand. Results We found patients expressing showed five-year overall (OS) 11.1% compared those without (43.0%) (p = 0.02). confirmed MEK matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), as well invasion ability, enhanced cells. In addition, this increased infiltration enhancement MMP-9 induced abolished inhibitor. Conclusions These results suggest can be predictor MEK-mediated intracellular pathway plays crucial role carcinoma.

SIX1 overexpression predicts poor prognosis and induces radioresistance through AKT signaling in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

The Sineoculis homeobox homolog 1 (SIX1) protein has been found to be overexpressed in several human cancers. However, its expression pattern and biological roles in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remain unexplored. This study examined the clinical significance of SIX1 in 119 ESCC tissues. It was found that SIX1 protein was upregulated in 36.9% (44/119) cases. SIX1 overexpression was...

CXCR4 promotes oral squamous cell carcinoma migration and invasion through inducing expression of MMP-9 and MMP-13 via the ERK signaling pathway.

The increased migration and invasion of oral squamous cell carcinoma cells are key events in the development of metastasis to the lymph nodes and distant organs. Although the chemokine receptor CXCR4 and its ligand, stromal cell-derived factor-1α, have been found to play an important role in tumor invasion, its precise role and potential underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. In this stu...

MT3‐MMP down‐regulation promotes tumorigenesis and correlates to poor prognosis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

The membrane-type matrix metalloproteinases (MT-MMPs) play an important role in degrading the extracellular matrix (ECM) and facilitating protease-dependent tumor progression and invasion. Here, we report that unlike MT1-MMP, MT3-MMP was down-regulated in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) as detected by real-time PCR (qPCR), Western blot analysis, and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Down-re...

Overexpression of miR-191 Predicts Poor Prognosis and Promotes Proliferation and Invasion in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

PURPOSE Accumulating evidence has shown that dysregulation of microRNA-191 (miR-191) is closely associated with tumorigenesis and progression in a wide range of cancers. This study aimed to explore the potential role of miR-191 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). MATERIALS AND METHODS miR-191 expression was assessed in 93 ESCC tissue specimens by real-time polymerase chain reaction,...

Elevated AEG-1 expression in macrophages promotes hypopharyngeal cancer invasion through the STAT3-MMP-9 signaling pathway

Macrophages play a critical role in tumor invasion and metastasis, which remain major causes of mortality in patients with hypopharyngeal cancer. Here we investigate the effect of an oncogene, AEG-1 expressed in macrophages on the invasion of hypopharyngeal cancer cells. AEG-1 is more highly expressed in macrophages of human hypopharyngeal cancer samples compared with adjacent non-tumor control...
